However, a child’s medical history can significantly influence the material choice for paediatric crowns. For children undergoing regular MRIs, zirconia crowns are advantageous as they do not interfere with imaging. Conversely, children with bruxism may benefit more from stainless steel crowns, which are more resistant to the excessive wear caused by grinding.

Behavioural considerations also play a role. Young children or those with significant dental anxiety may struggle to tolerate lengthy procedures. In such cases, stainless steel crowns, which are typically quicker and easier to place, may be the better option.
